Giant sculpture on Bournemouth Beach to celebrate the official start of summer

The mammoth deckchair, set to break the world record, measures eight and a half metres tall by five and a half metres wide, and weighs almost six tonnes. The seat alone could put a footie goal in the shade. Commissioned by Pimm’s^® in celebration of the clocks springing forward to glorious B.S.T. this weekend, the chair can be spotted bringing a ray of sunshine to Bournemouth Beach.

Award winning sculptor, Stuart Murdoch, who created the deckchair, commented:

“The Pimm’s Deckchair has been great fun to work on – summer came early to my workshop – and now to Bournemouth beach. Deckchairs are so quintessentially British, they reflect our personality: they’re iconic and stylish but laced with humour too; anyone who’s ever tried to put one up can tell you that. I’m very confident we won’t see any collapsing today though!”

Aesthetics Event Staff were delighted to supply 25 stunt staff and 5 film staff members

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the official start of British Summer Time, with an engaging spectacle that will raise awareness that the clocks move forward this weekend. Aesthetics Staff were used for photoshoots and videos taken around the giant deck chair to raise brand awareness for Pimm’s and capture the spirit of the start of British Summer Time.

Emma Sherwood-Smith, spokesperson for Pimm’s, said:

“This year’s Great British summer is set to be massive. With the Diamond Jubilee and a certain international sporting event on the horizon, we’re predicting a huge summer of fun. We wanted to get the ball rolling and, as champions of everything that makes the Great British summer so great, celebrate the start of the season in style. The world’s largest deckchair seemed to be just the ticket.”

The Tennis Championships at Wimbledon is one of the most prestigious events in the sporting society and took place over a two period at the excusive All England Lawn Tennis Club. 

Aesthetics Events Limited supplied a highly professional host and hostess team of over twenty members of staff to ensure that this event ran as smoothly as possible. We had the honour of offering guests that were in attendance at The Gatsby Club a first class hospitality service (this was in addition to the teams at Centre Court, Court One and the Sky View Suites).  The Gatsby Club is one of the most luxurious restaurants and the perfect places to wine and dine guests as its deco is set in the 1920’s. Our Aesthetics hospitality team were dressed to impress in elegant black dresses and black suits. Our experienced team were ready and waiting to welcome each guest with a glass of champagne to start their day.  For the remainder of the day our lovely female and male staff was there to be of service to each of the guests while they enjoyed a 3 course a la carte lunch. Ensuring that all their hospitality needs were met throughout the day!

On the weekend commencing the 11th June our Aesthetics team of 33 host and hostesses were located at the Moto GP, Silverstone – Northamptonshire. Petrol enthusiasts flock to observe the races over the course of two days.

The Aesthetics crew were then placed into smaller teams to participate with assisting at the various restaurants within the Silverstone grounds. Each small team could be identified by the colour of their scarf and smart black wrap dress for the girls whereas; the boys could be spotted by the colour of their ties and black suits. The guests would be greeted at any of the five restaurants like the Stowe Apron, Stowe Complex, Dorna VIP Village, Brooklands and SCL Rider Lounge. Once the guests are in their allocated restaurants they could only expect a 5 star treatment and this would begin by being greeted with a smile and a warm welcome by the Aesthetics host or hostess. After the guests had been checked in by our reception team and handed their goody bag they would then be guided to their designated table where they would be wined and dined until the race commenced. Through the course of the day going into the early evening our hostessing team would endeavour to make sure that all the guests needs were met first time allowing them to thoroughly enjoy the day!

Over the past few months Aesthetics have been strategically preparing for one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year, the UEFA Champions League Final, Barcelona v Manchester United. Since Wembley Stadium opened its new stadium in 2007 Aesthetics have been their preferred supplier of managers, receptionists, meet and greet staff and host and hostesses within the exclusive Club Wembley area. It was due to sheer excellence and professionalism at supplying hospitality staff that lead us to securing contracts for three different clients (including 1 major sponsor) for this particular game. This meant on the Champions Final day we had over 300 members of the Aesthetics team working within the exclusive restaurants in Wembley Stadium and Wembley Arena as well as 14 of Londons finest hotels and at each London airport terminal.

The UEFA Champions League Cup

The UEFA made sure that no expense was spared as they transformed the stadium and gave it a lavish makeover especially for the Champions League Final game. Each room had a unique transformation and became unrecognisable.   All the main restaurants including the well known ‘Bobby Moore’ restaurant had a makeover. The formerly known ‘Great Hall’ became the Sony restaurant where brand new carpets and extravagant chandeliers were fitted, along with plasma screens and Sony Play Stations for guests to enjoy. Every restaurant looked truly spectacular.

Our Aesthetics team were strategically well placed across both the stadium and arena ensuring that every need was catered for from the moment the guests entered their dedicated restaurants until the moment they left. There were a multitude of duties for our staff to get involved with from manning the reception desks, cloakroom, directional posts and hostessing. Each member of staff was specifically chosen to work on this amazing event and had to be accredited in order to do so. Aesthetics were extremely happy with the fact that this event ran smoothly and was a huge success for all three clients. Nothing was too much trouble for our specially selected team.

On Thursday 5th May, Aesthetics placed a trio of hostesses to meet and greet the guests at the Oval Cricket Club, London.  The pre-match drinks reception was held in the Monteplier Club, which has been prominent in English cricket from 1796 and has many competitors such as Marylebone Cricket Club and many other leading city clubs. The cricket club itself is based at George Arams new ground in Monteplier Gardens, also known as a ‘first class’ venue.  The Aesthetics trio were on hand to escort the guests around the Monteplier Club assisting with any queries, helping to serve champagne and to generally keep the guests happy.  It is always a delight knowing that Aesthetics staff work to the high standards expected by our clients and the agency, the event was a resounding success.

After more than a decade with Aesthetics Events Limited, Keri Doherty has been appointed as the new ‘UK Operations Director’.  This appointment comes with a package that also makes Keri a shareholder with Aesthetics Events Limited our UK based operation. Managing Director, Lee Thomas states ‘ Keri undoubtedly deserves to be recognised  for her constant dedication and commitment to Aesthetics over the years and this appointment is long overdue’.  Keri  was initially presented with this exciting opportunity at the end of November 2010 and after careful consideration the package was finalised mid December.  Keri officially commenced her new role on 4th January, 2011 and already the year has got off to a fantastic start for both the UK and UAE teams.  With Keri on board as a director we can now move the business forward to its next stage. A huge congratulations is in order and we would like to wish Keri every success in her new role – from all the Aesthetics team!

After another successful year overcoming a series of exciting challenges and sheer  hard work by the Aesthetics team, it was a well deserved treat when 16 of usl let our hair down ‘80’s style’ at our much awaited Christmas party! Our usual weekend venue ‘the Ricoh Arena’ www.ricoharena.com which we have a long standing relationship with and usually frequent to support out local football club ‘Coventry City’ www.ccfc.co.uk was hosting their annual festive fun party nights. Not even the sub zero temperatures stopped the office team from wearing the highest heels possible.  We started the evening drinking champagne in Mr G’s Casino before we made our way to our table in the Jaguar Exhibition and Conference Hall.  We enjoyed a lovely three course Christmas feast with a healthy selection of wine.  We then danced the night away to an 80’s style cabaret and enjoyed the indoor fairground bumping away on the dodgems.  As the entertainment  came to a close the team continued to party the night away at Carey’s Nightclub, (www.careys.co.uk) where more bottles of champagne and wine were consumed until 05.00am.  Needless to say there were some sore heads the following day!
